The short version
- Google turned off the free websites made with Business Profiles in March 2024. Their redirect to the profile worked until 10 June 2024.
- The website field on a Business Profile takes any full web address starting with http:// or https://.
- Some business categories can also add links for online orders, reservations or appointments.
- A page that carries your menu, hours, WhatsApp and booking button can be that website.
Why this matters now
Many small businesses used the free business.site page that Google generated from their profile. Google turned those off in March 2024 and kept a redirect running only until 10 June 2024 (Search Engine Journal, 29 Feb 2024). If yours was one of them, the website field may now be empty.
An empty website button sends people back to search, where your competitors are one tap away. A single page with the things they came for keeps them with you.
What Google allows
- Website: a full URL including http:// or https:// (Google Help: Edit your Business Profile).
- More links for some categories, such as online orders, reservations or appointments (same page).
- A menu and services editor for food and drink businesses.
- One social media link per platform, such as Instagram or TikTok.
Google's menus and fields change from time to time. If a field is not where you expect, search the Business Profile Help Center for the field name.
Set it up in five steps
- 1
Build the page around what Maps visitors want
Put the one action you want at the top (book, order, reserve), then your menu or prices as text, your hours, and a WhatsApp or call button.
- 2
Copy your page address
It looks like scintilar.com/yourname. Use the full address with https:// in front.
- 3
Paste it into the website field
In your Business Profile, edit the contact details and paste it as your website. If your category offers a menu, order or booking link, you can use the same page there too.
- 4
Match your hours
Keep the hours on your page the same as on your profile. Mismatched hours are the quickest way to lose trust.
- 5
Check it from a phone
Search your business on Google Maps, tap Website, and make sure the page loads and every button works.
The importer
Start from what you already have
Paste your Instagram @handle or your current bio link and we build the first version for you.
What to put on the page
| They want to | Put on the page | Block in Scintilar |
|---|---|---|
| See what you sell | Menu or price list as text | Price list |
| Know if you are open | Hours and holiday notes | Hours |
| Ask a quick question | WhatsApp with the first message typed | |
| Book or order | Your booking or ordering link, highlighted | Link, highlighted |
| Save you for later | Your details as a phone contact | Save-contact card |
| Tell others | Your review link | Review button |
The page's analytics show views, taps on each button and where visitors came from, so you can see whether the Google visits turn into bookings and messages.
Questions
Is a link-in-bio page allowed as a Business Profile website?
Google's help page asks for a full URL with http:// or https://, and that Googlebot can access the site. It does not require a particular kind of website.
Do I still need a full website?
Not always. If customers mostly need your menu, hours and a way to book or ask, one page covers it. Keep a full site if you sell online or publish a lot of content.
What happened to my business.site page?
Google turned off websites made with Business Profiles in March 2024, and the redirect stopped on 10 June 2024.
Can I use the same page in my Instagram bio?
Yes. One page behind your bio, your Business Profile and your counter QR means one place to update.
