The short version
- Rebuild the new page first and change nothing else until it is ready.
- Keep your Linktree page live. On a paid Linktree plan, the Redirect option sends every visitor straight to one link until a date you choose.
- Update bios in order of traffic, then reprint QR codes last.
- Cancel the old plan only when the old page's clicks have dropped to nearly nothing.
The switch, step by step
- 1
Rebuild the new page first
Paste your linktr.ee address into an importer and fix the result before you touch anything public. Check every link on your phone.
- 2
Keep the old page live
Do not delete your Linktree yet. Your old address is printed and shared in places you have forgotten, and it is your signpost for the next few weeks.
- 3
Point the old page at the new one
On Starter, Pro or Premium, add a link to your new page, open Prioritize and choose Redirect. Linktree then sends every visitor straight to that link until the “Active until” date you set (Linktree Help, updated 14 Oct 2026). On the Free plan, make the new page the first link with a clear label such as “We've moved: tap here”.
- 4
Update bios, busiest first
Instagram, TikTok and YouTube bios, then X, Threads and Facebook, your WhatsApp Business profile, story highlights and pinned posts, your email signature, and the website or menu link on your Google Business Profile.
- 5
Deal with printed QR codes
A printed code keeps pointing at linktr.ee, so the redirect covers it for now. When you reprint, use a QR that points at a forwarding address, so you never have to reprint for a page change again.
- 6
Watch the numbers, then cancel
Compare the old page's clicks with the new page's views for two to four weeks. When the old page is close to zero, end the redirect and cancel or downgrade.
The importer
Step 1, done in ten seconds
Paste your linktr.ee link. We rebuild it here with no account and nothing published.
A simple timeline
| When | What to do | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Day 0 | Rebuild and check the new page | Nothing public changes yet |
| Day 1 | Redirect or top-link the old page; update the busiest bio | Most traffic moves at once |
| Week 1 | Update every other bio, signature and profile | Catches the long tail |
| Weeks 2–4 | Reprint QR codes; watch both sets of numbers | Printed codes are the slowest to change |
| When old clicks are near zero | End the redirect; cancel or downgrade | Nobody is left on the old link |
Easy to forget
- Link shorteners and ads that point at your old address.
- Old posts and highlights that say “link in bio”: the bio is updated, so they are fine.
- Collaborators and venues who list your link on their own pages.
- Your analytics history stays with the old tool. Write down last month's numbers so you have a baseline.
Questions
Is Linktree's Redirect available on the Free plan?
Linktree's help centre lists Prioritize, which includes Redirect, on the Starter, Pro and Premium plans. On Free, make the new page your first, clearly labelled link.
Can I keep my linktr.ee address forever?
You can keep the account as long as Linktree allows, but you do not need to. Once almost nobody uses the old link, you can let it go.
Will my old analytics move with me?
No tool can import another tool's analytics history. Note your recent numbers before you switch so you can compare.
What about the QR code on my counter?
While the old page redirects, scans still reach you. Reprint with a forwarding QR so later page changes never break it.
